Rathbarry and Glenview Studs main occupation is the standing of stallions which has proved very successful in it's 70 year history since it first began in 1935. Currently there are twelve Flat and three National Hunt stallions on the roster. Click on any of these names on the left hand side for full information details on each stallion.

The foaling of our visiting mares is a big part of our service. Any mares, particularly the ones that come from abroad, must arrive in good time before their foaling date so as to avoid any complications during and after birth. Premature births do occur so it is best for the mare to be in the hands of professionals at the time of foaling, to give the new life every chance of surviving. We are lucky here at Rathbarry that we have access to top professional staff from all over the world, each and everyone of them without doubt, contribute to the day to day success which Rathbarry enjoys.

Within our breeding operation we have access to the most practical and knowledgeable veterinary surgeons, who work tirelessly during the mating season to keep young foals healthy and also to help get mares in foal. Another feature is our isolation facilities. In total we have five separate isolation yards in order to minimise the risk of disease from animals arriving at the stud.

The selling and preparation of horses for all the major European sales is a big part of our autumn workload. We prepare horses for the sales in a unique way with a very much hands on approach trying to suit every individual's needs so they can be produced at the sales in tip-top condition and ready to take the next step in their careers. In the case of yearlings, they progress into the trainers' yards to be broken and then begin a racing career. This is a very specialised service and each individual must look as well as possible in order to attain the highest possible price for their breeders or owners.

Rathbarry has unlimited facilities for boarding mares on an all year round basis. The rich limestone land is ideal for grazing broodmares and raising their progeny. In addition to this the expert handling provided by our highly professional staff combined with the excellent facilities available give our clients an advantage of breeding top class racehorses from their mares.
