TOP-CLASS BUTHELA RETURNS WITH A WIN

BUTHELA (Acclamation), last seen finishing second in the 2017 running of the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein, made a winning return to the track at Maisons-Laffitte on April 15th.

The Andrew Fabre-trained five-year-old was sent off favourite for the mile contest under Vincent Cheminaud, who positioned him behind the leaders for much of the way. Quickening with his rivals approaching the two furlong pole, he battled beck and neck to the line to deny Sea Prose by the shortest of margins.

Bought by owners Al Shaqab Racing as a yearling for €240,000 from breeder Ecurie de Monceaux, Buthela is the first foal out of Listed winner Tribune.
