First National Hunt Crop 3-Y-O's 2022

Eye to the Future

Considering Youmzain’s success as a racehorse and the success of his progeny on the racetrack, it has been no surprise how popular Youmzain proved to be with breeders since his arrival to Glenview Stud in April 2018. Resulting in an impressive tally of 93 foals born to National Hunt mares from his first season standing as a National Hunt Sire.

The positive feedback from breeders, impressed with the excellent quality and confirmation of his first National Hunt crops bred at Glenview Stud, has been affirmed by their success in the sales ring. They were purchased by some of the shrewdest judges in the Bloodstock Industry with foals in 2020 realising up to €38,000.

Youmzain retired to stud sound in 2011 following an illustrious 6 year racing career with earnings in excess of € 4.25 million, with an admirable record of 6 wins and having finished first, second or third in a remarkable total of 15 Group 1 races. During this long career he fully proved his durability, soundness, superb temperament as well as his considerable ability.

Having already sired a Group 1 winner on the flat from his very first crop it was clear that Youmzain’s ability was being passed onto his progeny. In recent years his flat bred progeny have begun to make their mark in the National Hunt sphere. Ill-fated Grade 2 hurdle winner and Grade 1 hurdle performer Saglawy was an early flag bearer for the possibilities that lay ahead. Youmdor remains an exciting prospect for the coming season, having won a juvenile hurdle by 16 lengths on his first start for Willie Mullins.

Control Tower added to Youmzain’s Stakes tally when landing a Gr.3 in October 2021, the four year old filly is now a four time winner and has five black-type placings to her name.
