STAKE ACCLAIM IMPRESSES ON RETURN
STAKE ACCLAIM (Acclamation) returned from a long layoff to win the £25,000 Dubai Duty Free Handicap at Newbury on April 12th.
Unseen since November 2017, the now seven-year-old boasted excellent form as a five-year-old in the top sprint handicaps. Dean Ivory’s charge was ridden to make all and was asked to quicken approaching the final furlong, from which he was driven out to score by two lengths and three quarters.
The winning jockey Adam Kirby commented after the race, “I’m chuffed with Stake Acclaim and that was a good performance. He showed a lot of speed and ran through the line; he’s a very talented horse.”
Now a six-time winner for owner Michael Yarrow, Stake Acclaim was bred by Glen Devlin and sold to Peter and Ross Doyle for 125,000gns at the breeze-up sales. His dam, Golden Legacy, won the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes and was beaten just a length in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes.
