The Richard Fahey-trained ARAKHAN (Malinas) made a successful return from a long layoff when taking the novice hurdle at Aintree on June 14th.

A bumper winner as a four-year-old, the now six-year-old stepped up to two and a half miles for his hurdle debut. Brian Hughes rode him to chase the leaders and began to make headway from three out, switching right to challenge approaching the final flight. Leading on the run-in, he drew clear, extending his advantage to eight lengths on the line.

Campaigned by the Richard Fahey Ebor Racing Club, Arakhan was bred by Yorton Farm Stud and is a half-brother to dual Stakes winner Fire Ship.
