OH THIS IS US LANDS VALUABLE PRIZE

The ultra-consistent OH THIS IS US (Acclamation) landed a valuable prize when taking the All-Weather Mile Championship at Lingfield on Good Friday.

Tom Marquand employed hold-up tactics aboard the Richard Hannon-trained six-year-old, waiting until the two furlong marker to produce a challenge and raced home wide to beat the favourite Indyco by three parts of a length.

The thrilled winning trainer commented after the race, “He is an absolute star and has a heart like a lion. I wish I had a few more like him. He is the stable star.” On future plans, Hannon added, “He has been unlucky not to win a couple of Group Two races. He is in the Lockinge, but he might go to Sandown. There are a lot of good races for him.”

This marked a 12th career success for OH THIS IS US, with victories also including two Listed contests and the valuable Greatwood Stakes at Goodwood. The Team Wallop-owned bay has earned over £500,000 for connections and more than repaid the €110,000 given for him by Peter and Ross Doyle at the Goffs Orby Sale, where he was sold by breeders Herbertstown House Stud.
