LISTED WIN FOR RATHBARRY BRED GORGEOUS NOORA

The Rathbarry Stud and Kabansk Ltd bred GORGEOUS NOORA produced an impressive turn of foot to win the Listed Betway Hever Sprint Stakes at Lingfield.

Second in a six furlong Listed contest last time out, the bay mare was dropping back to the minimum distance on her latest start. Racing towards the back of the field under Hollie Doyle, she waited until the straight to make her move; switching right to challenge over a furlong out and ran on well to lead close home, beating the 2017 winner Royal Birth by three parts of a length. The winner’s stablemate, Listed winner Corinthia Knight, took third.

The winning jockey commented after the race, “I was a bit in doubt about stepping Gorgeous Noora back to five but we know she has a lot of natural ability. She’s beautifully bred and will go to stud soon.”

Trained by Archie Watson for David Howden and David Redvers, the now five-time winner was purchased by current connections for 200,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale. Originally sold by Rathbarry Stud as a yearling, she is out of the black-type mare Aneedah, herself a full-sister to multiple Group winner Muthmir.
