SIZING TENNESSEE (Robin Des Champs) maintained a perfect record this season when running out a thoroughly impressive winners of the Grade 3 Ladbrokes Trophy Chase at Newbury.

An 11 length winner on his seasonal return in October, he stepped back up in trip for the valuable contest and was once again partnered by Tom Scudamore. Trackign the leaders on ground described as soft, the Colin Tizzard-trained ten-year-old jumped well throughout and led from the fourth last fence. Racing clear by the following obstacle, he continued to stay on well and extended his advantage to ten lengths on the line.

Tizzard was understandably delighted and said after the race, “Sizing Tennessee bolted up first time and we thought there was only one race for him before Christmas and he goes and does that. His jumping’s got good, really good. He is four years older (than Native River) and is in the Welsh National. If entries were tomorrow I’d put him (Sizing Tennessee) in the Gold Cup. This is fantastic.”

Owned by the late Ann and Alan Potts, Sizing Tennessee was bred by Philip Hore, whose Mount Eaton Stud sold him as a store for €76,000.
