FIRST MARES SCANNED IN FOAL TO JAMES GARFIELD

JAMES GARFIELD wins Gr.2 Mill Reef S., Newbury

Rathbarry Stud are delighted to announce that record-breaking two-year-old JAMES GARFIELD has had his first three mares scanned in foal.

Among them are Rebel Aclaim, a multiple winning Acclamation mare, who is already the dam of two winners from two runners. She is a half-sister to Listed winner Silent Tribute, who was beaten less than three lengths in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac, while the second dam won at Listed level.

Another confirmed in foal to James Garfield is Dazzling Light, a winning half-sister to dual Listed winner and multiple Group-placed Balkan Knight. The dam of one winner from one runner, she herself is a daughter of Crown Of Light, who finished third in both the Epsom and Yorkshire Oaks.

Welcome Spring is also in foal and carries a half-brother to the Starspangledbaner colt who sold for 300,000 at last year’s Goffs Orby Sale. The unraced Lawman mare is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Flowers Of Spring and comes from the renowned Aga Khan Family of Champion Three-Year-Old Alamshar.

James Garfield himself was a record-breaking Group 2 winning two-year-old and a Group 3 winning three-year-old. He is out of a Stakes-winning Royal Ascot two-year-old, from the immediate outstanding stallion producing family of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT and KODIAC.

Commenting on the news, Paul Cashman said, “I am delighted with the quality of the mares booked into James Garfield for his first season at stud.”
