Predictably, after the outstanding success of the Sadler's Wells/Mill Reef line crosses, Barathea has been given plenty of opportunity with mares from the Mill Reef line, and this cross has already produced significant results. Mares by Mill Reef, Shirley Heights, Darshaan, Slip Anchor and Deploy have all produced Stakes horses by Barathea. Perhaps significantly, Shirley Heights has been the most successful, providing the dams of Group winners Apsis, Barafamy, Barathea Guest (also Gr. 1 placed), Shield, as well as the 2004 Gr. 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Magical Romance and three Stakes placed horses. Shirley Height's son Darshaan, meanwhile, is the broodmare sire of the 2004 Group winners Pongee (also Gr. 1- placed) and Hazarista (also Gr. 1-placed) and there have also been five Listed winners - Alasha (also Gr. 1-placed), Charming Prince (also Gr. 1 placed), Shawara, Tea Garden, and the 2006 Stakes winning and Gr.1 placed Sanaya. The Darshaan cross has also worked in reverse with Barathea as a Gr.1 bloodmare sire with Necklace. The other sires from the Mill Reef line to produce a high class winner is Slip Anchor; the sire of the multiple Gr.3 winner Red Sea (also Gr.1 placed) and Deploy, the sire of the 2006 Listed winner Princess Nada (also Gr.2 placed), Mill Reef himself was the broodmare sire of the Stakes placed Kittiwake, who is the dam of three Stakes performers from her first 3 foals, including the Gr.1 winner, Konigstiger Never Bend, Mill Reef's sire, is also found in the pedigree of Australian Gr. 1 winner Porto Roca. Another sire line that has produced significant results with Barathea is that of Blushing Groom. When mated with Rainbow Quest mares, Barathea has sired Gr.2 scorer Cornelius. plus the Listed scorers Hymn Of Love and Pampa Negra. Other Blushing Groom sons with Stakes horses by Barathea include Groom Dancer, sire of Irish Listed scorers Allexina (in 2004 and 2005) and Barring Order, while Nashwan sired the dam of Gr.2 placed Molomo and Listed placed Pepperwood. The Raise A Native line is also well represented by Barathea Stakes horses. Dual Gr. I scorer Tobougg is out of a Majestic Light mare, while La Syiphide (Alysheba), Bardego (Bellotto) and Enrique (Raise A Cup), a Gr.3 winner (also Gr. 1- placed), are other notable examples. Barathea has also had success with mares featuring his own bloodlines. His own sire line, that of Northern Dancer, has provided the dams of Group winners Siringas (out of a Bellypha mare), Hidalguia (Chief's Crown) Gr.3 winner (also Gr 1-placed), Rag Top (Night Shift), Full Press (Tights), Traou Maid (Try My Best), Far Hope (Green Desert) and Scartozz (Mazilier) and twice again in 2006 with the Gr.2 winning 2-y-o Silk Blossom, who is out of a mare by Spinning World (by Nureyev by Northern Dancer) and the Gr.3 winner Sina Cova (also Gr.2 placed) ex. a mare by Priolo (by Sovereign Dancer by Northern Dancer) and several grandams of Barathea Stakes horses are also out of Northern Dancer-line mares. This cross has also worked inreverse for Barathea as a Gr.1 Broodmare Sire with Konigstiger (by Tiger Hill by Danehill). Also an interesting fact with Silk Blossom is that here dam was ex a Lomond mare. Kris's daughters have provided two Barathea Stakes winners - Mount Elbrus and Al lhtithar, and another Stakes placed horse - while the Damascus line can claim Gr 1 winner Porto Roca and Gr.3 scorer Blue Stellar (also Gc 1-placed). Another line to show up prominently in the dams of his 2005 Stakes winners was that of Sing Sing, whose son Song is broodmare sire of the leading Group winning juvenile Opera Cape (also Gr.1 placed), while Song's son Music Maestro is the sire of the Group winning juvenile, Blitzkrieg's second dam. Blitzkrieg's broodmare sire is Lion Cavern (by Mr Prospector). The Prospector cross worked brilliantly again in 2006 with the Gr.3 winner Barastraight (also Gr.2 placed) who is out of the Machiavellian (by Mr.Prospector) mare. This would also work for matings with mares by other sons of Mr.Prospector including Gone West and his son Zafonis. The Machiavellian cross has also worked in reverse in 2006 for Barthea as a Gr.1 Broodmare sire with Tie Black. Baila Salsa, Gr.3 winner in 2005, is out of an Alleged mare. Silver Hawk (by Roberto) has sired the dams of 2 of Barathea's Stakes horses. The Linamix/Barathea cross both produced a Group placed filly by Barathea and a Listed filly by Limamix in 2006. Interestingly, inbreeding to Habitat also worked by producing the 2004 Group 1 sprinter Tante Rose, who is out of a Distant Relative (by Habitat) mare.
