Acclamation's pedigree brings together several famous speed influences. Not only were his sire and dam fine speedsters, his pedigree contains names such as Sound Track, Martial and Princely Gift, so mares with similar background might get the most from Acclamation. That's been a feature with his own sire Royal Applause, who has Stakes horses with dams by Green Desert, Mummy's Pet, Primo Dominie, Sheikh Albadou, The Brianstan and Warning.
The first interesting aspect of Royal Applause is that his Listed-winning son Colonel Cotton is out of a Green Desert mare while Green Desert's son Sheikh Albadou has provided the dam of Gr.2 winner Nevisian Lad. Green Desert-line mares - and they should be plentiful by now - ought to suit Acclamation very well, not only because his sire had done well with them, but because Acclamation is out of an Ahonoora mare. This Green Desert/Ahonoora axis has had some very important successes. Gr. 1 winner Cape Cross, the sire of Ouija Board, Shinko Forest and Gabr are all proponents of this combination. And there are several other sons of Green Desert's sire Danzig that have worked well with Ahonoora. Danehill has provided three major runners - Cullen, Danasinga and Desert Lady - out of Ahonoora mares while his son Flying Spur has sired Mister Links from a daughter of Ahonoora. Another Danzig son, Polish Precedent, has got Irish Gr.3 winner Social Harmony from an Ahonoora mare. It is interesting that the Green Desert/Dancing Brave combination gave us Oasis Dream,
and while Acclamation could benefit from Green Desert-line mares, his sire also has a pretty decent runner
out of a Dancing Brave mare in Majestic Missile.
A Warning mare has produced the full brothers
Mister Cosmi and Auditorium and there will be plenty of young speedily bred Warning-line mares in the
broodmare population to give this cross further opportunities. Acclamation is one of three Royal Applause
Stakes winners with Princely Gift in their pedigrees and mares carrying this speed influence are very much
a possibility for Acclamation. A Silver Hawk mare has produced top American mare Ticker Tape,
thus the Roberto line would be ideal for mating with Acclamation. This provides plenty of
opportunities, as daughters of Kris 5, Red Ransom, Dr Fong, Lear Fan and Sri Pekan fit this category.
